Testing
=======

BAM Engine uses pytest with comprehensive coverage requirements.


Running Tests
-------------

Test Categories
---------------

* **Unit tests** (``tests/unit/``): Test individual components in isolation
* **Integration tests** (``tests/integration/``): Test event chains and full simulations
* **Property-based tests** (``tests/property/``): Hypothesis-driven randomized testing
* **Performance tests** (``tests/performance/``): Benchmark regression testing

Coverage
--------

The project maintains ~99% code coverage. Coverage is measured automatically
during ``pytest`` runs. Performance tests automatically disable coverage
instrumentation (see ``tests/performance/conftest.py``) to avoid measurement
distortion from ``sys.settrace`` overhead.
